Fugitive Alien will be performing at a Graduation Party for Cruz Lujan at a private residence in Cuyamungue. All fans and friends that would like to attend should contact Danny, Dave, Charles or Kris for an invite!
Update:
I had all the equipment packed up and ready to go at the studio when Charles met me there at 11am with his son, son-in-law, and a couple of their friends. Roadies! We had the trucks loaded up in minutes. Charles didn’t even tear down his drums… he just had the roadies place the kit in his truck very gently. We drove out to Charles’ place in Cuyamungue, which is a really sweet property nested in the trees with an old double-adobe house, horses, rams, turkeys, dogs, and Charles’ car fleet! Here’s a shot of his horse area as you are driving to the house:
We unloaded the trucks (roadies!) and set up on the porch. (note the new alien MASK-cot on Charles’ kit)
Kris met us there and we did a sound check on “Time Ago” and it sounded great. The PA was nice and clear and you could really hear the monitors well. The guitar amp and bass amp sounded great outdoors and we mic’d Charles’ kit and it sounded great too!
We went to eat a bit. Charles family went all out with the food! Pork roast, beef roast, homemade BBQ sauce, beans, chile, mashed potatoes, corn-on-the-cob, nachos, chips, dips, salsas, cake, etc. The food was awesome!
We started playing a bit after 3. The crowd was about 40-50 people… mixed from all ages. They were pretty mellow, not a lot of applause, but they were listening and we did get a lot of compliments. I was proud of the way Charles and Kris played. We acted like a band and watched each other for endings and for the few glitches where Danny would add or forget parts (LOL!) they stayed right with me! My voice held up through both sets. (Whew!) I even had a few people compliment that was a good SINGER! I was surprised!
Charles was funny… in between songs, he would make speeches on how happy he was that everyone showed up…. how he hopes that have a great time… telling them to help themselves to food and drink… dedicating songs to his son, his daughter, his granddaughter, his wife, etc. He was getting a bit “sentimental” again! LOL! Kris and I were teasing that he sounded like a lounge musician!
As we were playing to a mixed crowd, people were pretty mellow and mostly just listening. A lot of crowd was into different types of music and Charles warned them that this was “something different”! We played “Hole In The Earth” for Grandma, and I noticed the high school/college people getting into it. “Pork and Beans” was a hit, as was “Runaway” as the older people recognized the song and the younger crowd dug the way we did it.
After we played, we ate a bit and had a beer. Then we packed up all the equipment, loaded up my truck and Kris truck, and Kris and I unloaded the equipment in the studio as it was just starting to rain. We left Charles to host his party. All and all it was a success!
